TM N20/N73 Roundabout Mallow, Co Mallow

Lagan Operations and Maintenance Ltd were awarded the contract to clear existing furniture from the Roundabout N20/N73 in Mallow and replace the internal area with topsoil and a concrete base to receive a large statue.

The works required significant Traffic Management on one of the busiest intersections in Munster – Where the Dublin, Cork, Limerick, and Killarney roads meet. Due to the volume of traffic that use the intersection each day it was decided that the works would be carried out at night – 4 nights to complete the project. A lane on each approach of the Cork to Limerick Road (N20) as well as a lane on each approach of the Dublin – Killarney (N73) needed to be closed each night for the works and reopened again each morning before 06.00hrs.

The works called for 2no IPVs as well as six TM staff to first put the TM in place, then to ensure the TM stayed in place before removing the TM each morning. TM was compliant with all requirements of Chapter 8.

The works were completed in November 2023 on time and to the satisfaction of the client (Cork County Council).
