The Project Road comprises of 17.3 km of mainline motorway and associated slip roads between Junctions 17 (North of Watergrasshill) to Junction 14 (Fermoy North) of the M8 including the 450m viaduct over the River Blackwater. From our Fermoy depot, our team provides a full suite of maintenance services on the Project Road, from routine daily inspections and patrols on the road and associated structures, to detailed inspections and maintenance on drainage, road furniture and environmental and landscape management. We also carry out repairs (both temporary and permanent) to road pavement and other assets associated with the project.

The Limerick Tunnel project commenced in July 2010 and comprises of a 675m dual bore tunnel crossing of the River Shannon in Limerick. The project has an extensive fibre optic Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and state of the art tunnel control and response SCADA system monitored from a manned control room on a 24/7/365 basis.

In 2013 Lagan Operations and Maintenance formed the Egis Lagan Services joint venture with our partner Egis Road Operation S.A, to provide this service. The project comprises the routine operation and maintenance of over 350Kms of Motorway and National Road network and includes the normal inspections, environmental maintenance, incident response, and winter maintenance core activities together with full liaison with the local authorities and the Motorway Management Traffic Control Centre.

In 2014 Lagan Operations and Maintenance formed A-Way Lagan Infrastructure Services Limited (ALIS) joint venture with our trusted partner STRABAG to perform the operations and maintenance obligations of this scheme, which forms part of the Atlantic corridor outlined under Transport 21.

This strategically important project provides 25.5km of high-speed dual carriageway between Dungiven and Drumahoe. Lagan O&M were awarded the traffic management package on this scheme in 2019. The traffic management included road closures, diversions, haul road crossings, contraflows, high speed works, emergency call outs, inspections, and all aspects of maintenance. Lagan O&M provided a TSCO for the scheme who managed all elements of the project.

Lagan Operations and Maintenance Ltd were awarded the contract to clear existing furniture from the Roundabout N20/N73 in Mallow and replace the internal area with topsoil and a concrete base to receive a large statue.

Our professional traffic management division will design and install set ups from temporary traffic lights, stop-and-go, event management, road closures and diversions, pedestrian management, variable message signs and made to order signage.

In March 2023 Lagan Operations and Maintenance were awarded the 3-year TII VRS Regional Term Maintenance Contracts– West Region. This was the largest of the three regions awarded and shown in red on the map below.

This involves network management of VRS within the selected region including detailed inspections, safety patrols, safety inspections, populating the VRS asset database, management of database, labelling of VRS, repair and/or replacement of damaged and non-compliant VRS, rectification of minor defects and vegetation removal.

Lagan Operations and Maintenace have carried out numerous bridge parapet upgrade schemes on key infrastructure throughout Ireland. Recently we undertook the parapet upgrade on the M8 Blackwater Viaduct Bridge.

This includes routine inspections which are typically self-performed and more detailed services where LOM manages specialist technical service providers. We provide regular maintenance and servicing of the tunnel M&E systems.

Lagan O&M recently completed the installation of a comprehensive solar photovoltaic (PV) system paired with a cutting-edge lithium iron phosphate battery system at a motorway depot located in Kilkenny, Ireland. This sustainable energy solution not only caters to the energy demands of the depot but also contributes significantly to reducing carbon emissions.
